How to get rid of mosquitos

mosquitoMosquitoes are usually an outdoor pest, but in some cases they decide to come inside and keep bugging us long after warm weather has gone. Nobody enjoys the stinging bite of a mosquito. Harboring them inside during the colder months only means there will still be a nice population outside when summer returns. The best thing to do is to get rid of them.

Mosquitoes can be a real annoyance once they come inside. They usually seek shelter inside because there is little moving air, which makes it hard for them to fly. They enter through cracks in doors and windows. There are many things you can do to help keep mosquitoes out of your home and they will usually solve the problem for you.

You should first seal any entrance areas. Be aware that they are active in early morning and early evening, so you may want to avoid leaving doors open during this time as this is just inviting them inside. You may also want to situate a fan nearby entrance points to deter them form coming in. You should eliminate any standing water outside your home, especially near doors and windows as mosquitoes bred near standing water.

You can spray outside to cut down on the mosquitoes, which helps to keep them outside, too. They dislike the smell of rosemary and sage so you may want to have pots of these plants near doors or planted in your flower beds. Marigolds are another great plant option that will repel mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes are not a pleasant pest, but thankfully they will not damage your home or breed inside. They are mostly a pest that you just don't want to bother you. By keeping mosquitoes under control outside you will greatly reduce the chance that they will come inside.
